The Quiet of the Land
"space and the hurt of space after others have left" William Stafford
Not very many places still exist that make us feel small. We grow up, grow tall, and try to wrap ourselves around our everyday spaces, mapping the pieces we can manage. To feel the vastness of a space, to allow ourselves to feel small once again, that is something rare.
Driving over 1000 miles around the country of Iceland, I was overwhelmed by the sense of space that this country gave me. From towering oceanside cliffs to little churches that could barely seat thirty people, my images invite you to experience both “space and the hurt of space after others have left.”
